VP Racing Fuels started in San Antonio, Texas, in 1975 with one blend: C12. The fuel came first and the company followed it. Fifty years on, C12 is still on the shelf, and since July 2026 VP has run its own operation inside Europe.

A fuel that came before the company
VP was founded to beat what racers could already buy. Its first product, C12, caught on locally, and the company was set up because enough people wanted the fuel. The first paying customer was a drag racer, Warren Johnson, and his and Bob Glidden’s wins on C12 made it one of the best-known race fuels in motorsport.

Inside the development loop
Working with engine builders Buddy Morrison and David Reher, VP found a way of working it still uses: sit inside an engine programme’s development loop rather than at the end of it, close enough that a change to the fuel changes the engine and the other way round.
The same method took VP into MXGP and European drag racing half a century later, five thousand miles from Texas.
C12 is not a heritage edition
C12 is a current blend: leaded, green, 112 (R+M)/2, and recommended for compression ratios up to 15:1. That covers most automotive race engines. It’s also a strong two-stroke fuel, in vintage air-cooled engines as well as new ones.
July 2026: a European address
In July 2026 VP Racing Fuels acquired Pro Energy Fuel Limited, a European supplier of racing fuels, aviation gasoline and oils, and made Sligo, on Ireland’s north-west coast, its European headquarters, with operations in Wrocław and Rotterdam.
For racers the difference is ownership rather than an import arrangement: stock, people and logistics inside Europe. Pro Energy also brought expanded aviation-fuel infrastructure and a 100% sustainable racing fuel that meets FIA and FIM requirements. For us at Rally Fuels it means the fuel we sell ships from European stock.
